Welcome to our WFR course. Our goal is to provide the highest quality and a low cast WFR course. Here are the simple steps to become WFR certified
1. Enroll in our online WFR course. These is the best way to learn. We have provided multipole ways to learn including practical skill videos, practice questions, podcasts, WFR textbook and online powerpoint ectures. When done, you will know the material very well.
2. Enroll in our online recertification course. If you already have had a WFR or similar certification you will qualify for the online Recertification course. Study your weaknesses and then take the exam.
Passcode When you enroll, you be given the passcode to take the online written exam after you complete your study. The material is all free on this site. We charge only for taking the WFR certification examination.
Where do your fees go? No salaries are paid with your fees. All costs support wilderness medicine education for courses taught University of Utah’s School of Medicine. We give many courses for free, If you cannot afford this coure, for example, email us and we will help you.
How long will the full course take? If you are new to the material, you can expect to study 2 weeks in your free time. This is roughly a 50 hours of at home coursework. If you are familiar with this material, it will be much quicker. You can learn the hands on training by closely watching the training videos.
Practical Skills-Hand on Training
To obtain a WFR certificate, it is important that you know some simple practical skills. You can study these in two ways.
1 If you have practical skills training already from a previous WFR, EMT, schooling, you are already trained., We suggest you watch our training videos closely to review, You will be tested on these in the WFR certification exam
2. If you have not had training in splingting, apply a neck brace, opening an airway, etc, then we have online practical skills training also.

Recertification
If you have already earned a WFR, and you want to rectify, you can do this by taking the recertification exam. It is online. You will study online prior to taking the examination. You will need to study the following modules in detail. There are a few questions from general WFR subjects. You can review the text, listen to a podcast or take a practice test to build your knowledge base. The re rt test is shorter than the WFR certification exam. Study the follow subjects in detail.

How to Study
You will study the following subjects on your own. When you are done and when you feel ready, you will click the link below and it will direct you to the certification examination. If you pass, a certificate will be given to you online at that time.
Step 1. Download the WFR Textbook
As you begin your study of the WFR program you should download the textbook. This is the most up-to-date text on wilderness medicine education. You can use it as a primary study tool, or as a reference text. It is updated frequently. You can use another service such as Notability to mark it up and make notes.
Step 2. Baseline Study
Follow the subject list given above as a guide.. Study by doing one (or more) of the following, depending on which way you learn best: This will give you the foundation needed to understand the material.
TEXTBOOK: Read the textbook either as a primary source of information or in addition to other study sources
PODCASTS: Most students listen to the podcasts. They are found on iTunes, Spotify and other hosting services. Look for AWLS or Advanced Wilderness Life Support. You can follow along in the textbook.
POWERPOINT: If you need more help, you can watch a powerpoint lecture on a subject
